MILWAUKEE (August 12, 2020) – Cousins Subs® employed nine hardworking and enthusiastic crew members through the Governor’s Milwaukee Summer Youth Employment Program Private Sector Placement. The program provides skills development through subsidized employment as a pathway to private sector job placement and industry exposure for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee members ages 16 – 21.

“Cousins Subs strives to make it better for teens and young adults in our communities every day,” said Christine Specht, CEO of Cousins Subs. “We’re proud to be a part of this summer program, in which we employed hardworking and dedicated Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee members and helped them develop their skills for a strong future in the restaurant industry.”

“I really appreciate the opportunity to participate in the life-changing placement,” said Deshun Fields, member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Milwaukee. “Because of the experience I’ve gained, I now have the opportunity to work in the restaurant industry for years to come.”

The nine Boys & Girls Clubs members who worked at Cousins Subs completed a 20-hour assessment and work readiness training program that covered interpersonal skills, communication, team building and health and safety in the workplace prior to joining the brand’s restaurant teams. Two program participants, including Deshun Fields, were hired as Cousins Subs crew members following the Governor’s Milwaukee Summer Youth Employment Program Private Sector Placement.
