10, 2023) \u2013 Cousins Subs \u00ae, alongside its<\/p>\n
Make It Better Foundation and partner, Donald Driver, name Dalton Hoehn of Mauston<\/p>\n
High School as the second-place winner of a $2,500 Driven at Heart Scholarship.<\/p>\n
Hoehn<\/p>\n
is one of four Wisconsin high school senior finalists who took home<\/p>\n
scholarships as part of the inaugural Driven at Heart scholarship contest. He<\/p>\n
was selected as a finalist due to his ability to excel academically while being<\/p>\n
a three-sport athlete and dedicated community volunteer.<\/p>\n
In<\/p>\n
high school, Hoehn participated in wrestling,<\/p>\n
baseball and football, while maintaining a high GPA. He was nominated first All-Conference<\/p>\n
Inside Linebacker his junior and senior year and served as varsity team captain<\/p>\n
sophomore through senior year. Hoehn was a three-time sectional qualifier,<\/p>\n
two-time regional and conference champion in Wrestling.<\/p>\n
In addition, Hoehn works with the Aging and<\/p>\n
Disability Resource Center as a Dementia Champion to help spread awareness of<\/p>\n
Alzheimer’s and Dementia.<\/p>\n
Through<\/p>\n
his hard work, Hoehn obtained a 4.0 GPA and will attend the University of<\/p>\n
Wisconsin \u2013 Eau Claire in the fall to pursue a nursing degree and play<\/p>\n
football.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am<\/p>\n
honored to have the privilege of being chosen as one of four finalists to<\/p>\n
receive this scholarship,\u201d he said. \u201cThis will greatly impact my ability to<\/p>\n
further my education and achieve my goal of obtaining a nursing degree. With<\/p>\n
this degree, I hope to help in local hospitals and retirement homes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joining<\/p>\n
Hoehn is Audrey Rabitz of Manitowoc, Wis. who also received a $2,500<\/p>\n
scholarship, and first-place winners, Ava Lamers of Rhinelander, Wis. and Colin<\/p>\n
Belton of Wausau, Wis., who received $7,500 scholarships.<\/p>\n
Hoehn,<\/p>\n
alongside the other recipients and their parents attended the Wisconsin<\/p>\n
Athletic Hall of Fame 73rd Annual Induction Ceremony Saturday, April<\/p>\n
1st, where they were recognized on stage during the ceremony by<\/p>\n
Driver and Cousins Subs Vice President of Marketing, Justin McCoy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese<\/p>\n
four individuals are beyond impressive,\u201d said Driver. \u201cWe had a ton of great<\/p>\n
applicants for our first Driven at Heart scholarship contest, but Ava, Colin,<\/p>\n
Audrey and Dalton stood out amongst the crowd. It was an honor to be on stage<\/p>\n
with these four bright minds and I can\u2019t wait to see what they accomplish in<\/p>\n
the next step of their life journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe couldn\u2019t have<\/p>\n
asked for a better group to represent our first Driven at Heart scholarship<\/p>\n
winners,\u201d said McCoy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no doubt they will find success throughout their college years and<\/p>\n
beyond \u2013 these four set the bar high for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cousins<\/p>\n
Subs received nearly 300 applications from stellar high school senior athletes<\/p>\n
through the Driven at Heart scholarship contest. The four scholarship<\/p>\n
recipients were selected due to their academic achievements, community<\/p>\n
contributions and success in WIAA sanctioned sports.<\/p>\n
The<\/p>\n
four scholarships are funded by the Make It Better<\/p>\n
Foundation \u2013 the brand\u2019s nonprofit organization<\/p>\n
that addresses the vital community needs of health and wellness, hunger and<\/p>\n
youth education. Formerly known as the Wisconsin Sports Awards Scholarship<\/p>\n
Contest, the organization has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to 44<\/p>\n
high school students, including this year\u2019s recipients.<\/p>\n
