(Oct. 9, 2017) \u2013 Cousins Subs \u00ae located at 2965 S. Chicago Ave. in South Milwaukee, Wis. makes $1,000 donation to area nonprofit\u2014Growing South Milwaukee.<\/p>\n<p>The donation will assist the nonprofit in its mission to create and maintain community gardens that bring people of all ages together to inspire, share knowledge and grow nutrient, rich food for South Milwaukee residents. The first community garden will sprout up behind the historic train depot located at 1111 Milwaukee Avenue in spring 2018. The garden will have a limited amount of plots available for area residents to rent on an annual basis for $30 per 8\u2019x 8\u2019 plot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrowing South Milwaukee is a positive program for residents of all age groups and their work will foster benefits for years to come,\u201d said Tom Jones, owner of the South Milwaukee Cousins Subs. \u201cTheir mission of bringing area residents together through healthy eating and education can only lead to a stronger community and we are happy to help fund the construction of our city\u2019s only community garden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to the overall health and wellness enhancements affiliated with community gardening, our depot garden will prove to be a vital piece of South Milwaukee\u2019s long-term downtown revitalization efforts,\u201d said Leah Manthey, president of Growing South Milwaukee. \u201cWithout generous donations from local establishments, such as Cousins Subs, we would not have the necessary funding to complete construction of South Milwaukee\u2019s first community garden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The South Milwaukee Cousins Subs encourages supporters to dine out on Nov. 12, 2017 as the sub shop will host a donation day from 11 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. with 15 percent of sales supporting Growing South Milwaukee.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Jones is a ten-year Cousins Subs franchisee owning and operating four locations throughout Franklin, South Milwaukee, Oak Creek and Greenfield. As a local business owner, Jones and his teams have a profound dedication to giving back to the communities they call home. Over the last five years, Jones\u2019s restaurants have donated more than $50,000 to local organizations.
