{"id":209,"date":"2017-04-17T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-04-17T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=209"},"modified":"2017-04-17T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-04-17T09:00:00","slug":"cousins-subs-milwaukee-bucks-support-local-food-pantries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=209","title":{"rendered":"Cousins Subs &#038; Milwaukee Bucks Support Local Food Pantries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MILWAUKEE (Apr. 17, 2017) \u2013 Cousins Subs\u00ae and the Milwaukee Bucks announce successful conclusion of second annual \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019 campaign benefiting Hunger Task Force and food pantries throughout Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout March, Cousins\u2019 locations throughout the state collected healthy nonperishable food items for 40 local pantries, totaling 3,217 pounds of food collected in Milwaukee, and an overall total of 6,870 pounds of food collected statewide. In addition, for every Bucks\u2019 blocked shot, Cousins\u2019 Make It Better Foundation donated $45 to Hunger Task Force in honor of the sub shops upcoming 45th anniversary\u2014a total that amounted to $19,665 by the campaign\u2019s completion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a Wisconsin-based company founded in Milwaukee, we are proud of the combined efforts of our partners and local communities,\u201d said Justin McCoy, vice president of marketing at Cousins Subs. \u201cIn the second year of \u2018Block Out Hunger,&#8217; we are honored to have made an even greater impact to support those experiencing food insecurity across Wisconsin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of the campaign in 2015, Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks have raised a total of $29,665 and 10,137 pounds of food to support Hunger Task Force and pantries statewide. \u201cWe\u2019re proud that our partnership with Cousins Subs continues to have such a positive impact on the Milwaukee community,\u201d said Matt Pazaras, sr. vice president, business development and strategy for the Milwaukee Bucks. \u201cFrom our players blocking shots and raising money on the court to our business staff contributing throughout the community, this year\u2019s campaign was once again a team effort. We\u2019re thrilled to be supporting a critical local organization in Hunger Task Force and look forward to continuing this important initiative next season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cousins and the Bucks chose Hunger Task Force as the beneficiary of the Block Out Hunger campaign because it\u2019s Milwaukee\u2019s only Free &amp; Local food bank, is Wisconsin\u2019s leading anti-hunger organization and has a strong network of partnering pantries. The nonprofit collects nearly 10 million pounds of food a year and delivers it to 76 food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters, which combined, serve more than 50,000 people each month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the second year in a row, Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks helped us make a big difference for hungry families throughout Wisconsin,\u201d said Sherrie Tussler, executive director of Hunger Task Force. \u201cThe \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019 campaign is impactful because it raises awareness about hunger not just locally, but statewide.
