{"id":208,"date":"2016-05-02T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-02T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=208"},"modified":"2016-05-02T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-02T09:00:00","slug":"cousins-subs-milwaukee-bucks-support-food-pantries-statewide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=208","title":{"rendered":"Cousins Subs &#038; Milwaukee Bucks Support Food Pantries Statewide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MILWAUKEE (May 2, 2016) \u2013 Wisconsin-based Cousins Subs \u00ae recently joined efforts with the Milwaukee Bucks to \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019\u2014an anti-hunger campaign benefitting Hunger Task Force and food pantries throughout Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>This first-year campaign took a dynamic approach to \u2018Block Out Hunger.\u2019 The first being a statewide food drive held at the start of the campaign, in which the community was invited to donate three nonperishable food items at any Wisconsin-based Cousins Subs. As a result, a total of 3,267 pounds of food was collected statewide\u2014all donations went to more than 40 local food pantries to be distributed to families in need. In addition, for every blocked shot the Milwaukee Bucks had throughout the season, Cousins Make It Better Foundation made a donation to Hunger Task Force to support emergency food supplies at pantries statewide \u2013 a total that amounted to $10,000 by the campaign\u2019s completion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal of \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019 was to address food insecurity and to collect food for those in communities throughout Wisconsin,\u201d said Justin McCoy, vice president of marketing at Cousins Subs. \u201cWith combined efforts from Hunger Task Force and the Milwaukee Bucks, we were to achieve that goal by providing healthy and nutritious meals throughout our local communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cousins and the Bucks chose Hunger Task Force as the beneficiary of the \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019 campaign because it\u2019s Milwaukee\u2019s only FREE &amp; Local food bank and Wisconsin\u2019s leading anti-hunger organization. It collects more than 9 million pounds of food a year and delivers it to a network of food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters \u2013 again completely free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA huge shout-out to Cousins Subs and the Milwaukee Bucks for helping feed families in communities statewide. The \u2018Block Out Hunger\u2019 campaign was a big success,\u201d said Sherrie Tussler, executive director of Hunger Task Force. \u201cIt not only put food on tables, but raised awareness about hunger in Wisconsin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCousins Subs is a fantastic partner of ours. Together we\u2019ve demonstrated that our relationship goes beyond basketball to truly make a difference in the community,\u201d said Matt Pazaras, sr. vice president, business development and strategy of the Milwaukee Bucks. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled that our collective focus measurably drove awareness around an important cause and benefitted a fantastic organization, Hunger Task Force.
