{"id":138,"date":"2018-09-17T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-09-17T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=138"},"modified":"2018-09-17T09:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-09-17T09:00:00","slug":"cousins-subs-funds-two-wisconsin-nonprofits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cousinsdev.trivera.ai\/?p=138","title":{"rendered":"Cousins Subs Funds Two Wisconsin Nonprofits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MILWAUKEE (Sept. 17, 2018) \u2013 Cousins Subs\u00ae Make It Better Foundation awards $6,000 in grants to two Wisconsin-based nonprofits\u2014Cedar Springs Church and Reach-A-Child, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>A $2,000 grant was awarded to Cedar Springs Church based in Slinger, Wisconsin to cover the cost of 2019 registration for underprivileged children who would like to attend Cedar Springs Outdoor Adventure Day Camp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCedar Springs Outdoor Adventure Day Camp provides an opportunity for children to experience an exciting week of summer camp while surrounded by our loving, caring and supportive staff,\u201d said Pat Quinn, co-director at Cedar Springs Outdoor Adventure Day Camp. \u201cThe camp is provided at no cost to children living in high-poverty areas of Wisconsin, allowing us to serve more children. We are so excited that Cousins Subs\u2019 Make It Better Foundation shares our vision of helping make the world a better place by giving young people access to positive experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A $4,000 grant was also awarded to Reach-A-Child, Inc. operating out of Madison, Wisconsin to support its Milwaukee Fire Department Program, which will allow 38 fire department vehicles to carry a reach bag \u2013 a durable backpack filled with new, vetted children\u2019s books along with a number of drawstring backpacks. Upon arriving at a crisis scene, firefighters first take children to a safe place and then together, read one of the books found in the reach bag. The child then keeps both the book and drawstring backpack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis grant assures that all vehicles in the Milwaukee Fire Department will receive new children\u2019s books and drawstring backpacks to comfort 380 children who are traumatized as a result of a house fire, car accident or other crisis,\u201d said Curtis Fuszard, executive director at Reach-A-Child, Inc. \u201cThis gift from the Cousins Subs\u2019 Make It Better Foundation is directed toward the largest Fire Department in the state of Wisconsin and by extension, the largest geographic area of children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each grant is funded through the Cousins Subs\u2019 Make It Better Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization established in 2013. The Make It Better Foundation aims to improve the general welfare and quality of life in the communities Cousins Subs serves and addresses three areas of interest that are vital to any community: health and wellness, hunger and youth education.
